Celebrate the Holiday of Love with Valentines Flowers from Pasadena TX

Posted by Enchanted Florist Pasadena on 1st Feb 2016

Valentine's Day, as almost everyone knows, is that special day of the year when we celebrate our love for each other, whether it is our spouses or significant others, other family members, or dear friends. Many people might also know that, according to one version of the tale, the day is named after Valentine, a young Roman priest who lived during Emperor Claudius II, in the days of ancient Rome.

This version tells the story of Valentine, a young priest who performed marriage ceremonies for young lovers and who defied Emperor Claudius' decree that because married men made poor soldiers, young men should remain single, becoming soldiers first. The injustice of this decree angered Valentine, and he fought it by continuing to marry young people in secret. The secret was soon discovered, however, and Valentine was imprisoned.

The legend continues, telling us how Valentine fell in love with the jailer's blind daughter, and sent her messages, including one letter which he signed "From your Valentine", which can be considered the first Valentine. Valentine's life ended on February 14, 270 AD, as punishment for his defiance. Later, in 496 AD, after Valentine had become a saint, February 14th was named St. Valentine's Day by Pope Gelasius in his honor.

There are several other legends regarding the origin of Valentine's day, but regardless of which version is true, today many people celebrate the Valentine's Day holiday by sending flowers, a time-honored way of expressing feelings of love for anyone we love and appreciate and affirming or surprising those we have romantic feelings for.

Valentine's flowers can, of course, be sent from anywhere, and the Enchanted Florist, in Pasadena, Texas, offers a wide variety of arrangements of some of the loveliest Roses (in a rainbow of colors), Lilies, Gerbera Daisies, Tulips, Sunflowers, and more.
