Although September is not traditionally considered a month of holidays or celebrations, there are plenty of reasons to send flowers this month. 1. Patriot Day (September 11th) was designated in 2002 to remember those who died in the terrorist attacks on this day in the previous year. 2. Selichot (September 5th)is an ancient Jewish holiday occurring the week before the beginning of Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year). Even if you are not Jewish, this is a day to exercise the human capacity to forgive; a day to request and bestow forgiveness. Many also visit cemeteries on this day.
3. International Day of Peace (September 21st) was begun by the United Nations in 1981 and became a permanent holiday in 2002. Promoting world-wide peace is the goal of this day. Purchase living plants on this day to signify planting the seeds of peace.
4. First Day of Fall (September 23rd) is marked by the Autumnal Equinox, when day and night are of equal length in the Northern Hemisphere. Traditionally a day of appreciation of nature and the harvest, autumn bouquets and centerpieces are ideal celebratory gifts, or simply exquisite home decor!
5. National School Success Month is celebrated all month long. Give your favorite student a beautiful floral remembrance to let them know they are special and to encourage them to keep up the good work!
